VQ SPECT-CT quantification
In some cases of lung surgery, the surgeon will ask for a VQ scan with quantification. This is usually performed when the surgeon is thinking of removing part of the lung (a lobectomy procedure). In this case, the surgeon is interested in finding out how much each part of the lung is contributing to the overall function.
At Trinity Medical Imaging, the VQ scan with quantification is performed in exactly the same way as a VQ scan for pulmonary embolus. However, the technologist can perform the necessary calculations on the computer and provide a report for the surgeon.
